My wife and I have found that teaching self-control while starting to use technology has been effective. I always try to have an activity or a game when I want them to put it down instead of telling them it’s time to be done or setting a lockout timer on the device. I want them to feel they have a choice to put it down and do something different.

That’s a good approach.

Instead of telling our daughter, “no” we also redirect her in a positive direction, like, “let’s do it this way”

Hope to navigate parenting in the best way possible, but I can’t shield her from the world entirely, only guide her to make better choices.
