Oh I see. Same same but different. I still remember when Jihan Wu coined the phrase "small blockers" while Bitmain was mining empty blocks whenever they could to leech those block rewards without doing their job, confirming transactions. Just because it's possible to mine an empty block by design doesn't mean it's right.

It's not right at all. It's a waste.

Right. Though back then empty blocks weren't as uncommon as today but Bitmain was really good at mostly assembling empty ones thus my notion of "reward leeching" but hey, small blockers suck! 😉

Honestly it seems like more work to mine an empty than to just let the template fill.

Maybe they had their own little software for the S5's at that time? Who knows. I just remember Jihan bashing on small blockers while his company was mining empty blocks all day.
