Do you mean, republican boats tend skew crappy and democrat boats skew nice?

I suppose that sounds plausible

Democrats who can't afford a nice boat likely won't buy a crappy one either

But republicans might buy a crappy boat for business purposes (e.g. an independent fisherman), so all the crappy boats end up republican owned and the yachts are divided between rich republicans and rich democrats

But the crappy boats drag down the republican skew and make it so that the "average" republican boat costs less than the "average" democrat boat
