I have a noob question.

When I look at my profile on Snort Social, it doesn't load more than a couple posts until after literally a few minutes. I'm connected to a decent number of relays, and am not having this issue on Damus.

What do you think is the issue?

One thing is that I think some of my relays listed on Snort Social aren't really connecting to my client there, even though they are connecting on Damus.

Try Iris

Check your relay connection on snort (in profile settings) and make sure you’re connected to the same relays you have on Damus.

Iris shows you how many relays you are connected to on the Home screen in top left hand corner.

Very useful feature imo.

Maybe start there?

I find iris.to is faster. 5 connected relays

Having weird things going on in terms of client’s interoperability as well. There are pretty much two options:

1. Tinker with relays (and risk losing follows and followers)

2. Wait for devs to implement improvements

I believe nostr now feels similar to bitcoin in 2009-10

I also lose my social graph when i change app clients. Seems to be something to do with different relays. Is this a known problem that is going to be dealt with?

You can find relays at nostr.watch

@planb the legend

You want the same set of relays anywhere you go. Most apps let you save these relays to the network itself and an app will transition to using them once you sign in.

Try the snort social relay. Or go to iris client

Same relays?

Same device?

Same network/proxy/VPN?

If yes to all of the above, then maybe it's client performance?

maybe Internet is moody

Snort is not good lately if used on desktop, very slow.

Most likely issue would be a difference in relays between the two clients.

If so, adding the relays from Damus to Snort should bring the experiences to parity.

Is this a permanent situation? Doesn't seem very practical to me?

Unless there’s a schelling point that forms around relays, I’d assume the default relays on each client will be different.

Is it possible that the relays will change if I use the same client? I guess I will stick to the same client for now. But it makes it hard to evaluate new clients.

Sometimes I've seen the more relays there are can end up being worse. Maybe try pairing it down to ten or so and see if it helps.

You should prioritize realys that are geographically closer to improve response time

Generally, these problems seem to happen in some customers because relays that are online do not reach them immediately in the case of Damus, it seems to be faster.

At least that’s my perception, but I can’t assure you for sure.

Your post is making an impact.

Iris.to is more slick but snort has other features too

People appear to be confused about your definition of Noob

Iris is better for beginners

I bet one of your relays is down and Snort Social is waiting for a timeout. I've had sort of the same problem on Astral and it went away when I found and deleted the offending relay.

iris.to works very reliable and very fast, both on mobile and desktop

iris.to does the same on my end, sometimes.

Would I visit my orb about this?

I had the look up orb. Part of the response told me this, "In Christianity, the orb is a symbol of the power of the Pope."

I don't believe he has any more power than a rich common man.

Just another dude.

Is he?
