We think we want trust, but what we really want is justice (resolution).

We need trust to function on a day-to-day basis, but that β€˜trust’ is actually based on ongoing fairness, but if things really go south, swift and final resolution.

In the olden days (and today) that final resolution was often meted out through violence (incarceration, at a minimum).

Now we have superior means of final resolution (cryptography) where violence is irrelevant.

We think we want freedom, but rather we want liberty from the malicious actions of others.

Well said.
