If I want to buy a car that isn't just a surveillance device on wheels, what are my options?
And how far back do I need to look? Should I be browsing the market for Rav4s from the 90s and then retrofit it with apple car play and better speakers?

For no electronics (emp-prepper kind of vehicles), pre-1980’s American-made Trucks and SUVs, as well as old Voltswagon Buses and Bugs -- most maintain good parts availability. Newer than that begins to present tradeoffs...

I don't mind some electronics for the enterainment system, or power windows, say. I just don't want a computer managing my car's engine and internal operation. And I sure as heck don't want a car that is recording me, constantly phoning home, and can be remotely disabled.
