i am also including the actual image that is getting previewed so you can see how noStrudel squashes it.
noStrudel ALWAYS squashes link preview images like this so faces look stretched out etc.

technically GAB also cut off the sides of the image but instead of carving out a square it carved out a rectangle.
either way carving out some shape from the center of the image is better than squashing the image into that shape.
