My advice to my kids is to find a profession that not anyone can just walk in and do, and learn how to do that.

Absolutely! Nursing, welding, anything that someone or some machine can’t do.
I was going to say I've never hired a programmer but I've hired lots of plumbers.
Programming will be automated before too long. Either learn how to program the automation or one would be better off learning a trade imo
