Has anyone signed up for Starlink's free Mini? We have the Residential unit and have been very happy with it, but just got an email from them, offering a free Mini unit for $5/month, with limited speeds as compared to our existing one. We might get one to put in our shop, where we dont have great coverage right now. Anything i need to watch out for? I also like that we can travel with it easily if needed.
I signed up for one and itâs waiting for me to pick it up from the post office. The one thing I havenât been able to confirm is how slow the ~$5 plan is. They say itâs supposed to be just enough for texting, but thatâs not very specific đ¤ˇââď¸ If this morning goes well (and I donât slip and die on the ice đ) I should be able to pick it up, test it, and reply here again with results.
We have the Minis at work on our trucks and theyâre awesome, but we have the regular plans on those.
Ah, ok thanks for that. I have till Nov 20 to get it free, so i might wait a few days.
I got it up and tested: Itâs >1mbps download and upload, which is enough for messaging (as advertised), but you definitely wouldnât be streaming media (ie Spotify) on it.
