Drivechains seems sneaky. Advocates say it won’t impact the base layer and nodes wouldn’t even know that it exist. Why would we want this?

It changes miner incentives, so definitely affects the base layer

Exactly. Paul has even entertained scenarios where a drivechains sidechains becomes the dominant currency, over base layer bitcoin. So clearly he thinks that is a possibility. So, in those conditions, the security model of your ownership weakens to trusting miners to custody your sidechains coins.

Especially when liquid and stacks already exist. I don’t want to risk anything on the first layer anymore. The only updates should be for any security issues that pop up in the future, imo.
