Cake should taste good!

When my brother turned 25, we were both in America, so I baked him a cake from scratch and brought it to his house for the party.

One of his roommates tried it and was blown away. He told me he usually doesn't like cake, but this one was actually good!

I've since tasted some American cakes, and heard numerous stories. Sickly sweet frosting and tasteless sponge cake is not my idea of a tasty cake!

In Sweden, most cakes have whipped cream covering them. It's tastier but doesn't last as long sitting out in hot weather, so I understand the American frosting options, but still. At least let the cake part be tasty too.

Germans fix this.

Some of the best cake I have ever had was while living with a German family. I confidently second that.

I haven't had German cake, but I grew up on Swedish cake, so I'm spoiled.

Like with Chocolate, Europe is clearly winning the cake game too 😎πŸ’ͺ

Added to my bucket list 😍😍

The two most popular Swedish cakes are the Princess Cake (strawberry jam on one layer, vanilla pudding on the 2nd, and whipped cream covering it, with a layer of marzipan covering everything)

And the strawberry whipped cream cake.

I didn't like the strawberry flavor in cakes very much as a kid, so my mom would make a kids version that was chocolate pudding and mushed bananas as the 2 layers inside, covered with whipped cream. I made this for my last birthday and my in-laws really liked it. It looked big but it was all gone the same night! ☺️

I'd say it's worth trying, so I'm glad to know it's on your bucket list! πŸ€—
