Disgusting but not surprising at all, unfortunately. But the same thing can be said about gold and other hard assets as well. In other news: Private ownership of gold was banned in the US from the mid-30s to the mid-70s.

Laws only work if people obey them. When people stop obeying laws in sufficient quantities, the law is either changed or the Government falls...
Very true indeed, the only real question is who is willing to get shot by the police while they're still trying to enforce it. This is not a rhetorical question, I'm very interested in the exact mechanics of large groups of people deciding to risk injury and death rather than submit to violent aggressors.
