USA 🇺🇸: The company “Giant Food” which operates 165 supermarkets in Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia and Delaware, announced some measures to combat theft and keep its stores safe.

Measures include limiting store entrances, hiring security, restricting the number of items in self-service stands, placing fewer high-value items on shelves and protecting razor blades in containers that rattle when opened.

The company's president, Ira Kress, said he had seen theft increase at least "tenfold in the last five years" and violence increase "exponentially".
