Sounds like a network issue.
What comes to my mind that If you're using vpn, it could be that their exit ip could hit mint dos protection rate limits if many use the same one (?)

Hey, it actually was. I tried VPN and voila, all works. Have to check it with my internet provider. Have a new temporary one and wasn't aware of their limitations/censorship. Horrible, but glad I know what it was. Thanks for the tip!
