I mean there’s an argument to be made about having certain “trusted” verifiers. So like, if you trust nostr:npub18ams6ewn5aj2n3wt2qawzglx9mr4nzksxhvrdc4gzrecw7n5tvjqctp424 to accurately verify people with nostrplebs, then that service could be useful. But there’s still that element of trust

But if you see a nip05 from some random domain you haven’t heard of it’s basically worthless

So how does a NIP5 services become trusted and not remain worthless?

its all about your perception. if you trust them then you trust them 🤷‍♂️

Ok let me ask you this. I setup plebID.com what would it take for you to trust me and start using it?

If you’re someone well known in the community with a reputation for being honest i guess

Why would I trust you on that any more than any other random domain

I think it’s one of the great things about Nostr that it’s so easy to add or switch not only things like NIP5 domains but relays. So if at any point you stop trusting or even linking these people running one of these you can switch to someone else. It’s trust but very low level of fallout for this trust.

It's kinda throwaway if you want it to be. The protocol allows it

It's not worthless when you know that it has a price. Like with us. Our #nip5 service is anonymous, reliable and affordable. No account in fiat world necessary, order in the Nostr, zap the bot. #bitcoin #nostr https://nostrich.house #NIP-05
