It's a good way to learn about how the lighning network works. You need a full bitcoin node and a static IP, so that can be costly if you have to run it on a VPS.

Other than spending a week learning about it, I don't think it's really worth the trouble unless you want to set up an ecommerce site that accepts lightning payments.
