just a small addendum, i have discovered that for some reason my https://realy.lol relay is getting out of memory killed (oom killed) after running for some time, and i'm not sure why, i have a bug to fix

but manyana, because i'm gonna take a big long walk to spread out my necessary cash withdrawals so as to not cause too much alarm, since my landlady's bank is interfering with her business

first thing i have discovered is it appears that right off the bat after mere minutes my relay's VIRT field in top is showing 7.5Gb

and high CPU usage

i have some debugging to do tomorrow

the RES field is also slowly ticking up and right now at 3gb so there is YET ANOTHER resource leak here somewhere, but at least ... well, idk... before it was CPU and that was a shit, and now it's memory, and it bombs the process

yes, the resident memory amount keeps increasing, so there is some place in this code that is consuming memory and not letting it go, and it's not just threads this time, it's actual memory

does anyone else experience problems with terminal layout using VTE based terminals (tilix, gnome-terminal) and the `top` tool?

every so often it goes totally spaz and renders double linebreaks and ruins the output so it isn't readable

any suggestions for a better process monitor than top most appreciated

i also wouldn't mind some kind of tool that lets me have a log of a process such that it keeps a periodic sample of its resource usage over time because out of the blue my fork of relayer is now blowing up memory

i'm in the process of revising my dev system, backing up some critical data so i can do a reinstall but *sigh* the eternal vigilance of network software developers...

our pay rate is high because our problems don't sleep

htop for monitoring
