Reading “Changing Our Minds - How children can take control of their own learning” by Naomi Fisher.

Mind blowing 🤯

I don’t have kids yet, when I do I’ll read it for sure. But I personally love public schools, and public school teachers.

It’s not as much about teachers being stressed, but rather about government propaganda using public schools as a medium of brainwashing people while they’re still gullible.

Whatever brain absorbs at young age is extremely difficult to change.

This doesn’t happen 😭. It is my favorite thing that people online claim to be happening, it makes me giggle every time.

I’ll just share this example, but there are tons on all kinds of topics from gender identity to political stance.

Here’s a nice recent video too: https://v.nostr.build/vskCcGMC7hbMPEX1.mp4

This is from a University, not a public highschool, middle school, or elementary school. He got fired, there’s zero oversight in homeschooling, couldn’t parents groom their children to their personal propaganda and beliefs as well?

I only say that it matters it was a university due to the fact that homeschooling happens in Highschool, middle school, and elementary. It just doesn’t have relevance, but its fs not cool.

Totally agree. I’m pretty sure similar things happen in high school too though.

The woman whose child died went to jail too, didn’t she? These are extreme examples.

Of course, parent could groom their children according to their beliefs. That is the whole point. If those parents’ beliefs are destructive, this should be noticed by the society and children should be allocated to a decent family.

Sure. That’s on parents though. I like to think that me educating my kids at home will not lead to their death.

I personally know a family who homeschools their kids in a way I wouldn’t which leads them to be less social and to be honest, below average in terms of general academic performance. And that is the downside of this approach.

My point is I don’t want to be in the dark regarding what my child learns at school, and that’s what’s increasingly happening around the world.

It’s LGBT propaganda in States, “patriotism” in post USSR, god knows what in China.

Thank you, but no, thank you.

Breaking news: Your child will be gay even if you homeschool them to death on how bad it is

Not necessarily 😉

Solid point.

This happens. Every political regime is making it's propaganda in schools. In my country we have seen it 40 years ago with communism which was teaching kids Karl Marx and which was delivering basic communist ideas as the best (and only possible). And now we see it with democracy. I was in school 15-20 years ago and I was taught, that democracy is the only possible way of doing things and whoever is against democracy is against freedom and is totalitarian. I was taught, that I should always be a good citizen, and I should always protect democracy no matter what. Nothing changes, same style of propaganda as communism. Only the regimes switch, but the public state schools will always make propaganda, no matter what regime are we in.

I’d specify that the level of propaganda intensity varies. I studied in high school both in post USSR and in U.S. late 90’s and early 2000s were really mild, nothing to complain about really.

But as geopolitical situation heats up, propaganda flourishes and reaches absurd levels.

as a former public school teacher, i agree lol.

it’s funny how people complain about the lgbt stuff going into schools because at least in the US, it varies per state. for example, in florida, it’s illegal to even show or say anything regarding the lgbtq. some teacher went into jail for showing i think it was “luca” or the one about menstruation? because one of them had a character that was gay, but it wasn’t even part of the premise.

anyway, i understand how people don’t want their kids to stand up to the pledge of allegiance, but most teachers don’t care about the state— they’re usually cursing it out bc of the insane testing and paperwork.

i applaud homeschooling when the parent wants their kid to get the attention they need, as it is hard for public school teachers to pay attention to 35 kids in 1hr n 30 min, but it’s also something most working parents cannot fantasize about :/
