New to btc.

When I transfer from strike to cold storage and it says it will be up to 24 hours to process

Does that mean I need to leave my computer open and not in sleep mode until the tx goes through?

No, as long as its to your Bitcoin address, it'll show up within that time frame

Thanks so much

Nope. Once the transaction is published by Strike, it is transmitted around the network to all of the nodes. A mining pool will include it in a block when it makes economical sense for them to do so, and the transaction will then be finalized, regardless of you or Strike remaining online.

Thank you !

Exciting but stressful to do new things

when you say "cold storage"

means you have a self custody wallet somewhere and you're having strike send to that wallet?

important to remember that the Bitcoin isn't actually IN the wallet. Its on the blockchain.

The wallet is just a spending key that signs a transaction to *reassign ownership* of some quantity of Bitcoin.

but as others jave already said,

you're good 👍

Is this your first transfer to cold storage?

It was not. But it is the first one to take so long and I must say I became quite paranoid. But thanks to nostr peeps I was able to calm down quickly

Ah yes, relatable. I think that’s the main factor that allows Strike to accommodate free transfers. Whereas with most other wallets, a fee rate can be selected, which is essentially like priority or overnight shipping. Anyways, love to see that the Nostr peeps came through. 🤙
