How?

The mycelium in the soil is jolted by the electricity and causes the fungi to go from a vegetative state to a more reproductive one resulting in the production of mushroom bodies :)

Wow, so awesome! Thank you for sharing

I don’t doubt that can happen, but to be clear that is not the ordinary impetus for mushrooms to “fruit”

The mycelial mat keeps a close eye the conditions at the surface and start sprouting when they’re just right

Love the 🍄 discussion :) how cool are they? I wonder what more we can learn about their complex mycelium networks and if we can apply anything to our current understanding about the structure of neural networks

💯 it’s a crazy kingdom those fungi

Might it have something to do with lighting producing nitrate as well? Fungi love the Nitrogen

I guess “jolted” was the less scientific way of saying that the nitrate fixation facilitates the growth of the big umbrella-like ☂️ mushrooms from the hidden mass of mycelia that we see on the surface 🍄

Not to mention lightning’s patterns in the sky mimic those of the mycelium. Everything is connected
