Eventually. Bigger issue at the moment is that people leave the app after trying it

Is this app related or content related.

My guess content, way more than app.

Onboarding is a big part of it: we need an initial hook. We need things like starter packs to get people started. We don’t see this because we already have established networks, but i tried to onboard a couple into damus in mexico and it was painful.

Starter packs like an interest picker while onboarding?

For example I like crochet, I start with a feed that follows #crochet

Instead of finding that I follow you and Jack Dorsey. 😅

Or is starter pack something different?

Starter pack is a list of people to follow curated by someone who is inviting you

Yeah, but why would my friend have the same interest as me. Also, why depend on me curating a list… I suck 🤣

I’ve been on nostr for 2 years… if you ask me to create a list of people it would be disappointing.

its better than us picking a list for everyone. The plan is to list starter packs on a users damus.io profile page which I’m working on this month. A starter pack can just be a list of users and a relay set, we just need a mechanism for a user to use one of these lists as an invite code. still brainstorming the best approach.

Start new accounts with 0 follows except for themselves.

Give them hashtag follows of something they are interesting in and you are done.

Most hashtags have interesting posts. And it’s a Damus Super feature that doesn’t exist in other clients. (It does, but it’s a separate feed).

hashtags will stop working after they start to get spammed, which is inevitable at a certain scale, especially if we push people into them. Would be ok in short term I guess

As for spam I think it also depends on relays used. Haven't seen much spam even in global feed using filter.nostr.wine

The only downside is some events missing, but as I understand, it is more of Amethyst issue due to not using outbox model

What is the current consensus on building/focusing more on bridges to other systems like bluesky and mastodon?

i like the mastodon bridge, I follow some people from there
