It is. I wouldn't trust one cheap one, but two should do the job.
Freezers or alarms

I haven't. I just have family that do. A variety of times of purchase cheap ones rated well on Amazon, always duplicated.
Other ways to to go about it depends on the your home automation or lack thereof.
