Media Production and Distribution in Nostr

I look at Nostr also with the perspective of a content producer, with special attention to what I would simply define content costly to produce, or “costly content”.

Having worked for the film and tv industries I have learned to appreciate the amount of people, work and resources involved in making some kind of content.

As a content producer this is what I would love to be able to do with my content: package it in a format that has copyright and royalties management built in.

As a creator I would simply set the distribution conditions (with option to change these settings down the track) and let the content travel. Anyone who is willing to meet the distribution conditions built in the media could easily pick it up and insert them in their libraries. The protocol would handle royalties from their onwards based on the built in split ratios.

Who would (or could) need to be rewarded in the chain?

- creators (all contributors)

- financiers ( there is always need of extra funds)

- infrastructure (let’s call them heavy duty relays)

- marketing (specialized clients, or plebs sharing and the client the pleb used)

I would also have the opportunity to decide how it can be monetized. A few options could be:

- zap per play (you set the price)

- subscription streaming services (content would receive its share of total daily minutes)

- advertisement sponsored (a la YouTube)

- donations (but would still benefit from the split mechanism)

By allowing content creators to each set their own conditions and let the rest of the chain decide what they want to do with them we would create a gigantic RD lab on how costly content distribution could be reimagined in the BTC economy.

If this could be built in the protocol…

Bit of thinking on « how do we pay for all this » if you care to take a look 👆👆

#[1] I find everything you raise very interesting. I am going to think about it for a while before answering you because you have raised many things (related) but with different solutions, I think a very enriching debate can come out of this note. I add to #[2] (habla.news) and #[3] (zapit.live). They will be able to contribute much more than me for sure.

Thanks. It’s my point of view after soaking in Nostr and the “what if” for a few weeks. Needed to get it out of my system and try to have the “makers” at least consider it. 🙏🫂

I can now sleep. 🤣🤣🤣

We have a Telegram group for “Publishing original Music on Nostr” where we have discussed many of the topics you mention.

Feel free to join https://t.me/+MFK-E1B20Ps5MzA0

I mainly go on TG once a day to remind them that they are not on Nostr yet. I’m good here. I like the hive mind. What sticks sticks, what doesn’t doesn’t.

Damn, it was you all along 🤣🤣🤣

Looks like I have no choice other than coming to TG

We're just patiently waiting for nostr groups to become more widely available

Yes. As soon as I got in I understood. The disadvantages of being a dreamer who’s there early

#[3] is working on the concept of a stem market (amongst a few others) with #[4]

Not sure it's a stem market exactly!

This sounds like a farmers market concept 😂

It’s in the name 🤪

like for Nostr with stemstr it’s everything lurking under the hood that is truly exciting

The point of the intervention was you are looking at what’s happening around the beginning of the chain

☺️

Interesting followed you and joining the group
