If you want to know what the best deal on the menu is, just ask the bartender. They will be happy yo tell you.

The other small but important thing you should do is ask how the person serving you is doing. It may seem trivial but doing a service job is so repetitive you feel like a machine sometimes. It's nice when someone takes the time to ask how you are doing. A little chit chat to break the monotony.
When i don't know what to chosse, I ask for their favorite drink or dish.

I dunno. If the bar has a solid list of reds I can take a decent stab at what I'll enjoy. There's only ever been one Argentinean Malbec I never liked. I'll drink most pinot noirs and I have a list of favourite brands.
