Normie friends tell me they need fiat in a "savings account" to feel safe.

I only feel safe if I'm short fiat.
If it matches your expected fiat expenses in a short timeframe and the bitcoin pile is big enough anyway, I'd say it's all just a matter of making cashflow as hassle free as possible.
But of course, sitting on a big pile of fiat and it's the only thing you have... my father used to do that and he literally watched decades of his hard work to melt away.
