A key difference is the potential for economic activity enabled by the channel capacities on LN. A single channel over its lifetime can route back and forth dozens of times it’s actual UTXO size. I had a 1M sats channel that had routed at least 40M sats in payments when I was running a node. And that balance up there is just the public channels.
