So a german rap turnament is taking BTC donations for the price money pool and I decided to punch it into mempool to look what's up and ended in this transaction: https://mempool.space/de/tx/67f84620fa15c65eb119016bb34ff75aff88026d770278be8954c44bbd6e3694

Can someone explain to me why in the inputs/outputs section, the same wallet appears on both sides plus the receiving wallet? Why would that wallet send itself 1.5 BTC and only a split of that going to the actual target?

I have not done much with BTC itself, mainly with LN - and that is largely due to both my ignorance and most youtube videos being genuenly ass. XD Thanks! ^^;

They paid 0.0852 btc and the rest is change. What is unusual is that it goes to the same address again, it is not recommended to re-use addresses

So me thinking that the same addr appeared in both input _and_ output would be weird was correct then... Phew, so it turns out my sanity isn't entirely gone x)
