The difference between samadhi and satori.

Someone asked me the other day, "what is the difference between samadhi and satori.

I replied:

Depends on the type. Satori is the dissolving of subject/ object split and consequently recognition of emptiness and luminosity. Samadhi is that when nirvikalpa has happened.

They then asked: Are there differences in experience would you say?

I replied:

It's not about an experience in satori or nirvikalpa. Although experiences happen, they come and go. Satori and nirvikalpa are pointing to what doesn't come or go. This reality is what always actually IS in the midst of coming and going.

This recognition is not an accomplishment, it's not something you can get. You can't get what is always already here and now. It's just seeing through mental inertia. Seeing with the seeing that sees both ideas of subject and object, if that makes sense.
