Damn. Never met a product they didn't at least CONSIDER deprecating.
True story: I was friends with the founder of Foursquare back when he launched his original location social network Dodgeball in 2000 before smartphones existed. Google bought it in 2005, acqui-hired the guy, and then shut it down because they wanted to build something called Google Latitude, which of course, they later also killed. 
FML with these guys.
