No, not because he "ended slavery"

Because he grew the federal government from 2% to over 20% of the nation's overall GDP. He expanded the money supply by over 60% (more inflation, read theft, than this nation's ever seen) and he suspended habeas corpus.

The fugitive slave act would have likely ended slavery on its own within the decade without having to send 3/4 of a million Americans to their death, all to preserve your precious union.
