nix doesn’t require systemd. I’ve used it on macos, windows, and non-systemd linux distros

I thought it did. When one time I tried to run the installer it said I needed systemd all right? Well I guess I'll try it again on void Linux

It might utilize it to run the daemon in the presence of systemd ? But macos doesn’t use systemd obviously and installs itself as a launcher thing.

systemd is used extensively on nixos though which may be contributing to the confusion.

All right, I figured it out I can just do a single user install
