Bitcoin Transactions to Mars in Minutes: A Reality?
A new concept, Proof-of-Transit Timestamping (PoTT), could enable Bitcoin transactions from Earth to Mars in as little as three minutes. Leveraging existing optical links and a multi-hop system, PoTT aims to create a reliable interplanetary communication channel for Bitcoin and the Lightning Network.
While the technology is largely ready, a recipient on Mars is still needed. This development builds on previous efforts, such as Blockstream's satellite connectivity and Spacechain's ISS transaction, paving the way for a truly interplanetary financial system.
