Assume there’s plenty of #bitaxe users on #nostr

Does anyone have any pros/cons they care to share? For $140 it seems like a cool product for a nontechnical person to learn a little about Bitcoin mining. I’m mainly curious about the noise/energy usage/roi?

Assume zero ROI. If you want ROI, just stack sats. But it might make a cool conversation piece, so you might orange pill someone with it.

Well I plan on hitting a block within my first week. Great convo piece for sure!

I'm more interested in using old antminers as heaters.

Similar price range you can get an s9, use it for heating with some modifications to reduce noise, stack more sats in winter time 👌

Interesting thoughts there for sure, thanks. Modifications are what scare me, I’m not very technical

I’m not very technical either but it’s super easy to set up. Very little noise once it’s up and running. (Fan does go to 100% on restart and makes a little louder noise) As far as energy usage it’s not much. Some users are running them off solar panels off grid. There are options for power supply upgrades and fan upgrades for over clocking. Keep in mind it is a “lottery miner” and is competing with machines on the network with massive amounts of hash power. I got a couple of them running just to learn about mining and help decentralize the network.

Totally worth it IMO🤙🏼 #bitaxe

Thanks for the response. Great points 🫡
