I was impressed with your interview and your work, and I’m glad you have a very good perspective on things.

Unfortunately, many other activists and a lot of my peers don’t view things as optimistically as you do. Their climate perspective is driven by a fear of ruining the world, instead of a hope of making it a better place. Just like the teachers assistant in the interview I linked, they have heard predictions of the world being burned or flooded and are acting based on those ideas and feelings.

The whole point of my post and me sharing my video was to connect with the fact that many kids are exposed to these ideas at a very young age, and irregardless of their validity, that exposure can damage their view of the future.

You seemed to be very optimistic and rational and I’m not accusing you of peddling doom personally - but when you shared how young you were when you first got into these topics, this is what came to mind for me.

I agree. Fear is not the right way to try to motivate people for these things. I was lucky to have good mentors around me and my parents also understood that.
