Purely talking out of my ass. Just a hunch i have. We’re (generally speaking) always looking for a higher power (government/god/kings/pharaohs). The masses want to serve something/someone.
Don't disagree. I also think most people don't actually grow up and remain immature, irresponsible children. Then they look for a paternal figure to "take care" of them and tell them what to do, be it government, god etc.
