When someone shares a #YouTube video link, what is that extra, completely unneeded part that looks like:
si=XXXXXXXXXXXXX
Is that a “share identifier”?
Is Google using that to identify who originally shared the video, and who you are associated with based on who is else is clicking it?

Anything after the question mark is unnecessary tracking data.

That’s not true. The “v=XXXXXXXXXX” is the ID of the video itself, which is necessary.
