Still being built, almost a century and a half, should be completed this decade ;)

“German poet Heinrich Heine was once asked why men no longer build cathedrals. He replied:
“People in those old times had convictions; we moderns only have opinions. And it needs more than a mere opinion to erect a Gothic cathedral.”
Cologne Cathedral took 632 years to complete. Does modern man have the necessary conviction to build something like this today?”
Can you believe someone visualized this, and a culture had so much faith and conviction they spent 6 centuries to build it?! 🤯
Beautiful. 🥹 https://video.nostr.build/30ae98578ceae12119c78c56f1633e13f3b44392ec5a0bb619895cabc10bbb3c.mov

What starving nation was this built in
Barcelona, España
I can’t even imagine the acoustics in there
Yes, so curious about this! I want to visit so badly—missed it somehow when I was 18 living in Valencia. One day.
There is a meditative and beautifully quiet film about the architect’s work in Barcelona on Criterion. My wife and I watched it alone in a theater one Halloween night when we were decompressing. Well, alone but for one rat.
Wow!!!! The night photo! 😲 Absolutely stunning.
