On your smartphone, your keyboard is no physical device, it's a piece of software.

A piece of software that usually comes from Google or Apple.

On a device that is permanently online.

These keyboards can record your passwords, your credit card numbers, your most private thoughts.

But they learn your style of language to suggest your favourite words, how convenient!

Is it worth it though?

Is your Signal, SimpleX or nostr account really private when everything you type is sent to corporate servers?

Luckily there are alternatives as usual, and for #android you can install FUTO Keyboard, for example - No endorsement, I am sure there are more but that's what I settled for at the moment.

I don't use #iOS at all, but maybe some nostriches can help in the thread.

Have a safe day. Or night.

It's the only way

OpSec vs Revealing that everyone struggles spelling with the non-serious English language.

We all know how it started 😆

If you are still on iOS or stock Android you are a fool.

Might be true but this ain't how you convince people. I am still on stock android tbh 😆 even worse, Chinese android

I have no idea why this two weeks old note is getting traction rn, but thanks to anyone involved. I think it's crucial people understand this. Online #privacy starts at your keyboard.
