Yeah I think a lot of people make an nsec then leave out of discouragement. Nostr can be a quiet and lonely place especially when you’re new and I’ve been experiencing that. But like anything, the more you put in, the more you’ll get out. Proof of work and such…
The fundamentals and the mission of Nostr is more important than getting fake reach on legacy platforms imo.
Nostr rewards engagement. It is built for people who create, be it software, real world art, memes, or simply engaging in conversation with other people. That's why the people who remain make it such a great place.

I was lurking here for a bit and not contributing much. But would doom scroll reels on IG and about a week ago I was like “WTF am I doing?” and had a whole come to Jesus moment realizing I should be on nostr and get rid of these nasty legacy socials. So I did it. Nostr only now.
Feels much better and more honest even though in a way I also feel like I’m starting over. But as a Bitcoiner it just feels wrong to be elsewhere had to admit it to myself.

I stopped using tiktok. 2 reasons really, since Donald Trump forced them to let an American company replace their algorithm the feed is just garbage now.
And also since USA took control of tiktok every new account I make just gets permanently banned within a week a making it.

And rednote isn't compatible with my new phone so outside of communication with people I already know nostr is the only social media I use now

Yes. The private key is all that matters. If you lose it, your account is lost.
What’s the best way to safe your private key? Similar to how you store your BTC seed phrase?
I'm not quite that worried about my nsec. There aren't really any options for signing devices as of yet, like I use for my BTC cold storage. I use a program on Android called Amber for basic security, that way just a single app is in control of my key. Plus I keep a backup in my password manager.
