fun fact – DNA was originally isolated from salmon sperm. Swiss physician and biologist Friedrich Miescher accomplished the feat in 1869, dubbing his discovery "nuclein." Salmon sperm was at the center of an historic scientific discovery more than 150 years ago, so it's fitting that it's still used to make novel discoveries today.
