Blockchain has solved the key distribution problem without need for a central authority.

Satoshi used simple public-private key pairs as “addresses” and “passwords” for wallets, but the same concept applies to any digital identity; people, devices, apps, smart contracts, etc

This is the value that decentralized digital identity (aka web3) is truly offering… a shared trust anchor that will enable digital identities to interoperate better than the walled gardens of today’s cloud providers, saas apps, and app stores’ identity registries.
