That’s Not a Comet — It’s a Real Bird in Flight

This is the Ribbon-tailed Astrapia, a rare bird-of-paradise from the highlands of Papua New Guinea.

Its tail can grow over 1 meter long, nearly three times the length of its body — making it the longest tail relative to body size of any bird on Earth.

Males use these extreme tail feathers in dramatic flight displays to attract females.
