It seems like they just want a semi-custodial, intermediate hop where there is an always on server to prevent force closures because a mobile node is offline.

I personally think this is clearly a problem that needs to be solved by the LSPs themselves (within their nodes, not apps). Zeus did a great job of this, but in doing so they exposed problems with other lightning models. I hope that they can come together with Mutiny and find a solution where their nodes incorporate these types of payments as part of their business model. Aggressive Nostr posts and removing the ability to send certain transactions is not constructive.

Funnily enough, Zeus has a very trust minimized set up already with Nostr attestations. And even without that, there are ways to make it so the only options for the payment are that it makes it to its destination, or returns to the sender. Making the “return to sender” window larger may also be helpful.
