IIRC, around that time I would have been in the tail end of elementary school, so other than Dragon Ball Z, my info on anime was from Filipino kids at my Catholic school who were importing translated anime from back home or playing Japanese spec video games on jury-rigged PlayStations. The kind of stuff you found in ads in the back of now defunct video game magazines.
