what would be the most cypherpunk/‘bitcoin’ way to create shares to represent equity in a project/company/corporation

-a fairly self-reliant system

-open, and permissionless to use

just curious if there’s an approach outside of relegating yourself to rely on a big monolithic blockchain

nostrrocket is cool but probably fuckable with

Oh whoa that’s an incredibly cool idea… could be the future

In general, this is a foolish endeavor, because equity in a company is a legal construction. Even if you build the tools to trade the equity and vote as shareholders, you need to ask yourself what happens if something goes wrong.

Say, dividends aren’t paid out properly. Your only recourse is legal. Thus, holding equity is inherently a permissioned activity that only makes sense in the context of some kind of government and judicial system

that’s fair, i do believe you could make shares work in a free-market system tho. i just think what you mention above would be reflected in trust and price (the risk is priced)

You thinking of a coloures coin system ?

i’m curious abt finding another approach- something that doesn’t rely on a single blockchain, or need to bootstrap it’s own

If we are speaking inside the bitcoin economy i whould say a model like that cashu thing could be used to represent shares or as to its own thing who knows maybe its possible to build on nostr or something else.

Just spitballing for sure above my paygrade

Yea a mint with proof of reserves and proof of liabilities is the way to go here I think

You could yes, I just don’t think it would be as appealing as a traditional security. You can have contract and property laws and enforcement and still have a free market.

Companies and people have disputes all the time, and it’s good for there to he legal arbitration as opposed to violence. Or say someone within the company embezzles money. It’s good to have a system by which they can be punished and perhaps even have the assets recovered

mostly i’m really interested in the idea of how you could scale a company to be larger than apple/aramco while being free from dependencies like nationality, or a single point of failure like using the NASDAQ or some blockchain.

something simple that would work fine in a completely free-market system.

that sounds…scary lol

A huge, sovereign corporation accountable to no one but its anonymous shareholders

But yea, again, I don’t think it’s plausible. What if a subgroup of employees decide they won’t obey the board or whatever? Then the value of the equity asset crashes, but all the physical assets are still there? Who gets the physical assets? It’s just a free for all?

Bisq has some kind of DAO, that I guess works. I like the whole nostr rocket proposal but I guess we'll have to wait to see if it works out.

I'm putting all my eggs in the "AI will make it possible to run an Apple - sized enterprise as a single dev" dream.
