Our great grandparents used to sit around a campfire, stare into the flames and tell their stories. Nowadays, social media is the campfire around which we tell our stories.
If we want to succeed as a society, the digital infrastructure behind social media must reflect the infrastructure of society in the physical world. (distributed, decentralised)
In my opinion, it's not about companies, its about the infrastructure that powers it. The current architecture of most social media platforms is centralized (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) and Nostr is currently our best shot at breaking this centralized architecture.
Although far from perfect (no offense @fiatjaff), it's good enough for now and will hopefully grow into something more usable for the general public.
