Not hard to create lists of topics related to one another 🤷♂️
So you basically wanna clone reddit 😆
Just want to see easy to use experiences that don’t put all the work on the user
Isn’t this similar to communities? Albeit community curation is manual
Less rigid, more automated, no permission required to post, no manual moderation, though could have moderation capabilities.
Probably more akin to Reddit not that removes stuff that’s not on topic or seems like spam

Topics based posting with self/client side moderation.
No. I like self moderation. But, for channels, you’d want part of that to be filtered out for you so you don’t have to put in a lot of manual work for something you expect to work a certain way.
I have a few ideas for automated moderation but they are too complex. Vanilla moderation of certain topics will lead to the problems faced by reddit communities today. A community is basically subject to the biases of the moderators.
So if we have Nostr as a topic and the moderators believe in the concept of "grant based funding", what if they filter out all the notes that suggest venture funding?
Hmmmmk .... nostr trying to grow up ...
Perhaps the filters are loose around the word “funding” but restrict unrelated topics.
Id generate a tag cloud of related concepts where anything that mentions that topic is ok in the parent note. Replies could be more relaxed perhaps?
I know it’s not perfect but with enough tweaking and good UI / etiquette you might get to a decent state.
I think the main thing is just to launch this and work through the kinks until it more or less works as intended. No doubt you’d run into interesting dilemmas and edge cases, but that would be a fun challenge .
We should work towards it. Its not the perfect system but with enough iterations and open innovations, we will have a good system.
I would love to see this happen.

This idea is rather inspiring 🤔 It almost seems too easy...
nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft was doing this with relays for a bit. Not sure if he’s still experimenting with it or not.
Your original note was better. Grab key words and have the app send the note to so and so channel. Do not force me to pick channels and topics because my interests are A LOT broader than the things I actively want to avoid.
Doesn't nostr:nprofile1qyvhwumn8ghj7am9d33k7mt99ehx7um5wgh8w6twv5hszxrhwden5te0vdex2ct5wghxummnw3ezuamfdejj7qghwaehxw309a5kucn00qhxummnw3ezuamfdejj7qpq8kzz4lkdtc5n729kvfunxuz287uvu9f64ywhjz43ra482t2y5sksjawdnz have a categorization project?
I do! But the classifier is paused atm because it’s expensive, imperfect, and nobody uses it :)
I’ll keep refining it and eventually release something more production ready.
The API still works with older events for experimentation: https://docs.nostr.wine/api/classification
That is how some custom feeds work in BlueSky. And given the way custom feeds work there (they are services that ppl run afaik), the equivalent would be DVMs I believe (cc nostr:npub1wmr34t36fy03m8hvgl96zl3znndyzyaqhwmwdtshwmtkg03fetaqhjg240 )
