Just watched their full launch presentation. Here's my hot take.

Same pitch as Nostr in many ways:

"Built on open protocols"

"Own your social graph, content"

"Empowering creators regardless of their jurisdiction"

"Build permissionless apps"

Here's what's gross to me. Their profits will be made from the built in shitcoin casino. So theyre incentivized to make people gamble and speculate everywhere they look. People with more status will be shilling their bags and dumping on the speculators.

Also, all of this is built off of Ethereum.. which is down all time when priced in Bitcoin. Of course you're gonna need a shitcoin casino to try and keep up and not "miss those 2am pumps" as one dev referred to.. of course you'll want to generate a yield on your usdc as promised by base. All of this is a failure to realize thst Bitcoin is the money and everything else is hype or just dying a slow death.

All of this is the opposite of what I consider "based"

What's based in my definition of the word is leveraging a truly decentralized protocol to create value online and in the real world. Building an online brand on a foundation that you own, Monetizing your content or products with the best money and using that leverage to enjoy more time in the REAL WORLD is based.

I'm bullish on Nostr because of the primary group of people bootstrapping the protocol. BITCOINERS. We're playing a long term game. And over time, as we gain more influence and power as the purchasing power of Bitcoin rises, our culture will infultrate the masses. The tools for everything we need to do online will be built on Nostr.

*Disclaimer* I'm yet to try base. Farcaster obviously isn't my thing although I take a look every now and again tp see what they're up to. I can't steel man the case to put everything on chain.
