Can we get more info to back up these claims?

The grants are supposedly no strings attached. I haven’t seen a contract that a recipient might have to sign, so can’t substantiate.

The grant recipients I’m aware of all have proof of work in the open. I know that some people ask for too much money in their grant proposal and get turned down. The size of awarded grants I’m aware of have been smaller than I would expect. I think they’re trying to make the money impact as many devs as possible, rather than concentrating it.

As for one-off grants that get projects killed, not following that logic completely. A project receiving a grant needs to show it can deliver on its goals. If there is a need for the project, there should be money out there from grants, v4v, VC, or hopefully standing up a way to create a revenue stream with the project.

I’ve always had the impression that most grants were a launch pad, not a sustainable fuel source.
