I love using Linux (yes I am a normie and I use Ubuntu most of the time because it's easier) ... but a simple thing like "I want the latest Tor update which the developers put **strongly recommend updating** on is way too much hassle.

Strange. Seems so simple on Linux mint using their built in software manager

So it gives you latest (in this case I believe 0.4.8.6) without manual intervention? That's great if so.

On Ubuntu focal it was stuck at 0.4.7.2.

I recommend Nix.

Using even just the package manager solves a lot of headaches but if you have a little time to learn, the OS part is amazing!
